HKND Group meets with Dutch trade mission 2014-9-8 18:17

On September 2, 2014, HKND Group cordially met by invitation with a Dutch trade mission, and presented the project of the Grand Canal of Nicaragua to its members. This delegation is composed of representatives from 12 leading dredging, canal security, port terminals, water, construction machinery, human resources and training of maritime personnel companies. 

Zhu Xiaoya, Assistant to the President of HKND Group, introduced the team with extensive experience to the Dutch mission, the design plan of the Grand Canal Project and the latest developments. 

The Dutch businessmen showed great interest in the Canal Project. The topics discussed with HKND team were on bidding for the project, the participation of foreign companies, the acquisition of machinery and equipment, the training of professional and technical personnel, and dredging work, among others. 

Zhu Xiaoya said that Dutch companies have great experience and have a strong competitive advantage in terms of dredging, construction, maritime services, and staff training. HKND Group welcomes experienced contractors and suppliers to participate in the bidding and related constructions. 

Mette Gonggrijp, Dutch ambassador in Central America, thanked HKND Group for its presence in this meeting and its detailed presentation on the Grand Canal. She said that she hopes more Dutch companies have the opportunity to participate in the Project in the future. 

The meeting was also attended by members of the Commission of the Grand Canal: Laureano Ortega, Investment Promoter of PRONicaragua; Paul Oquist, the Private Secretary for Public Policy at the Presidency of the Republic of Nicaragua; Manuel Coronel Kautz, President of the Interoceanic Grand Canal Authority of Nicaragua; Orlando Castillo, general manager of International Airports Administration Company (EAAI); Mauricio Gómez Lacayo, Honorary Consul General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and Bernard Li, Deputy General Manager of Public Relations Department of HKND Group, among others. 

This event was jointly organized by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Central America, the Netherlands Council for Trade Promotion (NCH) and PRONicaragua. 

At night, HKND Group representatives were invited to attend a reception organized by the Dutch Embassy, where they had cordial exchanges with Dutch companies and Nicaraguans.
