HKND Group Met with Nicaraguan Chamber of Construction
On 25 April 2016, Bill Wild, the Chief Project Advisor of HKND Group, met with the Nicaraguan Chamber of Construction (CNC) in Managua, presenting latest developments of the Nicaragua Grand Canal Project and cooperation opportunities to local companies.
Rodrigo Pereira, the President of CNC, and more than 30 representatives from members companies attended the meeting. Among those present were representatives from the Chamber of Urban Developers (CADUR) and the Nicaraguan Association of Engineers and Architects (ANIA).
Bill Wild noted that the Nicaragua Canal Project would need massive support from local companies. He encouraged local companies to get prepared for the unprecedented engineering opportunities and challenges associated with the Canal Project.
Business representatives raised their questions about the project in area such as engineering planning, business model, resettlement program, financing and engineering requirements, etc.
Rodrigo Pereira stressed that the Canal Project represented significant opportunities for the industry. Local companies have started to prepare themselves for the project in providing skilled labor, business consulting, localization, contracting, and qualification verification services to ensure steady project progress.
Construction industry constitutes one of the main pillars of Nicaragua’s economy. Government statistics indicated that construction sector accounted for 3.2% of the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2015, higher than 2.4% in 2014.
