Delegation of HKND Visited the World Bank’s Head Office
Mr. Ronald MacLean-Abaroa (HKND Spokesperson), Mr. Bill Wild (HKND Chief Project Advisor), Mr. Kang Kuen Lee (HKND Deputy General Manager of Construction Management Department) and Mr. David Blaha from ERM were invited to visit the World Bank’s Head Office in Washington DC on April 23, 2014 to present a comprehensive update of the Nicaragua Canal Project to a group of experts of the Bank's Trade Facilitation & Logistic Global Experts Team and the Latin America & Caribbean Logistic Team.
HKND briefed on the progress of the Project’s feasibility study, its proposed construction design, its impact on the economies and environment of Nicaragua and its neighboring countries and on the Project’s impact on world trade and marine shipping. Mr. Felipe Jaramillo, the Bank’s Country Director for Central America chaired the meeting, and Mr. Aurelio Menendez, Sector Manager of LAC Transport Unit, with Mr. Jean-Francois Arvis, Senior Transport Economist of the International Trade Unit and others joined the discussion. The experts expressed their concern and great interest in the Project. They also raised questions and made some constructive suggestions. Both sides were very satisfied with the outcome of the meeting and promised to maintain close communication and wished for a smooth progress of the Project.
